The ACT Work Safety Commissioner announced today the release of two new Guidance
Notes by WorkSafe ACT on supervision of apprentices in the ACT’s construction industry.

The ACT Work Safety Commissioner, Mark McCabe, today announced the launch of a new campaign, Speak Up About Safety, encouraging workers and supervisors in ACT workplaces to actively engage in discussions about safety concerns.

The Work Safety Commissioner announced today that WorkSafe ACT will be conducting an inspection program focusing on working safely at height in the residential housing industry in the ACT. The program will commence on Tuesday 9 April 2013.

The ACT Work Safety Commissioner today announced the commencement of a new campaign of inspections of residential construction sites in the ACT, focusing on working safely at height.

The initial program will run for a week.  Results from the inspections will then be analysed to determine the best way forward - be that through further inspections, education, or a combination of both approaches.

The ACT Government has accepted all of the 28 recommendations of the Getting Home Safely report into the ACT’s construction industry, Minister for Workplace Safety and Industrial Relations, Simon Corbell announced today.

WorkSafe ACT has released a report summarising the process followed and outcomes from its recent (30 January 2013) enforcement blitz on the Canberra suburb of Harrison.

Work Safety Commissioner Mark McCabe has today launched the ACT Small Business Workplace Health and Wellbeing Incentive Program.

“The program, to be managed by Healthier Work, the ACT Government’s free workplace health support service, will provide funding for small businesses in the ACT to kick start health and wellbeing initiatives in their workplace or to extend and add value to existing programs,” Mr McCabe said.
