ACT Codes of Practice

The following codes of practice have been approved in the ACT under the Work, Health and Safety Act 2011:

• Transport and Delivery of Cash 
• Prevention of Bullying
• Formwork
• Construction Work
• Demolition Work
• Excavation Work
• First Aid in the Workplace
• Managing Electrical Risks in the Workplace
• Managing Risks of Plant in the Workplace
• Preventing Falls in Housing Construction
• Safe Design of Structures
• Welding Process.

Codes of Practice scheduled for national harmonisation after 1 January 2012

The following codes were approved by Safe Work Australia on 21 November 2012 but will now require approval by the national Ministreial Council and then adoption by the ACT GOvernment before they apply in the ACT:

• Tree trimming and removal work - crane access method
• Safe Design, Manufacture, Import and Supply of Plant
• Working in the Vicinity of Overhead and Underground Electrical Services
• Traffic Management in Workplaces
• Scaffolds and Scaffolding Work
• Formwork and Falsework
• Managing Risks in Forestry Operations
• Industrial Lift Trucks
• Cranes
• Amusement Devices
• Managing Risks of Plant Used in Rural Workplaces
• Managing Security Risks in the Cash-in-Transit Industry.

The following have been approved at the national level and are awaiting adoption here in the ACT.

• Spray Painting and Powder Coating
• Abrasive Blasting

Two Guides are currently in the draft stage:

• Guide for Managing Risks in Cable Logging
• Guide for Tunnelling.

Work Safety Act Codes of Practice

The following table details all approved Codes of Practice for the ACT which were in place under the Work Safety Act 2008, i.e. until 31 December 2011.

The following are National Standards and Codes of Practice which have been adopted in the ACT and shall remain in place until 31 December 2011.
